Characters

This production required realistic 1960s costumes in a mostly subdued colour palette to depict the era and themes of the story. The characters have wildly different personalities which the costumes needed to portray, along with little detailed elements to show what role they played in the theatre group.

The budget restrictions presented challenges in acquiring new or designing/sewing custom pieces. This resulted in the requirement for garment sourcing, only minor alterations and single item makes.

Space

The space had to transform into many locations, all movements would be by the performers with all the set elements remaining onstage throughout the show. As the play revolves around a community theatre group, our concept was for a cluttered and put together aesthetic. This design relied heavily on detailed set dressing and for props and costume items being pre-set on stage for the performers to interact with.
